Just a quick update

Sat Feb 26, 2005, 9:44 PM
Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything, so I thought I'd just write a little update regarding my situation for those of you who have asked.

It would seem that Employment is the enemy of Productivity....or at least the kind of productivity I'd like to achieve.

A couple of weeks ago, I abandoned my happy-go-lucky status as an unemployed bum and joined the ranks of the gamefully employed. I'm not sure I was ready to start working again, but a good opportunity came up, so I grabbed it while I could.

I'm now at a really small startup in San Jose. I'm not really supposed to talk about it, but I think I can get away with saying it's got something to do with payphones and global domination. It kinda makes me think of the South Park episode where the Underpants Gnomes spelled out their business plan:

Phase 1: Steal Underpants
Phase 2: ????
Phase 3: Profit!

Needless to say, all this underpants stealing has been taking away from the time I have to ...um... waste the battery in my camera.

I've finally gotten around to finishing all the shots from the shoot I did with Alexis, but I'm holding off on posting them for now. I'd like to break up the monotony a bit with another subject first.

To that end, I'd been hoping I'd have some stuff to post from a 'lighting the human figure' workshop I took a couple of weekends ago, but two factors have prevented me from doing so:

1) The workshop was shit. I learned nothing.
2) My work was shit. It proves I learned nothing. ;)

Anyway, what started out as a brief update has turned into a short rant. I think that means it's time to stop.

Until later....Cheers,
D

Why do I do it?? Hmmmm. Well, I'd love to be able to say something arty like, "because I'm compelled to," but the truth to the matter is it's a lot of fun for me. I'm only just getting started in terms of photographing models, but I really like trying to capture different emotions and looks that other photographers might not do, while still kinda mimicing some of the more cliche styles (because I'm still learning, and I like learning via imitation.....eventually I'll find my own voice).

like rocking out to hair metal in the 80s to become a rockstar now
totally cool. there is something awfully satisfying about it. and it looks like you get to meet beautiful people. girls, mostly ^_^

all the girls i've ever photographed in any significant way have been lovers, and it is difficult for them to put inhibition and embarrassment aside.

so this model thing is a good idea.
have to consider
no idea.

Hey your gallery is so great! :D I really love how I can see progression in your photos and that you really do seem to be improving. I think I may watch you and comment along the way (If you don't want me to, just say so and I promise I won't :)), because I definitely think you've got potential and deserve more exposure than your getting for these lovely photos. Keep up the great work!!
